Supply Chain Management Internship

AgriSETA is currently seeking two motivated individuals for the position of Supply Chain Management Intern. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to kickstart their career in supply chain management, logistics, and procurement. The internship will last for 24 months, offering hands-on experience and a chance to grow professionally in a well-established environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Management Intern

The interns will be tasked with assisting the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team in various day-to-day operations. Their duties will span across procurement, bid administration, logistics management, travel arrangements, and reporting. Below is an overview of their key responsibilities:

Procurement

  • Source quotations from tax-compliant service providers.
  • Compile RFQ comparative schedules and make recommendations for approval.
  • Generate purchase orders and distribute them to suppliers and end-users.
  • Ensure compliance with SCM prescripts and follow up on outstanding purchase orders.
  • Facilitate contract or SLA processes for ongoing services.
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders in line with SCM policies.

Bid Administration

  • Provide support during Bid Committee meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with National Treasury instructions on procurement processes.
  • Render secretariat services to the Bid Committee and provide administrative support.

Logistics Management

  • Safeguard AgriSETA stationery and groceries.
  • Perform monthly stock-takes and maintain inventory records.
  • Issue stationery to users and ensure all records are up-to-date for auditing.

Travel Arrangements

  • Assist employees with travel logistics and bookings.
  • Resolve travel queries, including after-hours issues.

Reporting and Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Ensure 100% compliance with reporting deadlines.
  • Provide regular updates on the status of procurement processes.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum Qualifications: NQF Level 6 in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or an equivalent qualification. A Grade 12 certificate is also required.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel).
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • No prior work experience in supply chain management is required.
