1. Learner Support Agent (LSA), PPPrev – Tsolo

The Learner Support Agent (LSA) is a vital role in the TB HIV Care Learnership Programme. The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct mobilization and pre-vulnerability screening for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in the community. The LSA will play a key part in promoting HIV prevention, particularly focusing on PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) and PPPrev (Prevention of Primary HIV Infection).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Community Awareness and Mobilization: The LSA will engage the community, particularly AGYW, by raising awareness about HIV prevention services, gender-based violence, and human rights.
  • Support for PrEP and PPPrev Programmes: The LSA will help promote the PrEP and PPPrev programmes and support individuals who are initiated on these services.
  • Case Management: This role involves providing case management services to AGYW and ensuring that they continue their care. The LSA will assist in identifying vulnerable individuals and linking them to appropriate services.
  • Education and Empowerment: The LSA will educate peers about HIV, available prevention services, and the importance of continuing care.
  • Report and Record Keeping: Regular reporting of activities is crucial. The LSA will maintain records of mobilisation efforts, case management, and submit weekly reports to the clinical trainer.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 qualification or TVET College Level 2 (or Grade 10 with at least one year of experience in HIV programmes).
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and IsiXhosa, with proficiency in additional South African languages being an advantage.
  • A driver’s license is advantageous, and HIV counselling experience will be beneficial.

This role supports the M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) Coordinator and Data Quality Officer in compiling weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for HIV and TB programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Capture and Consolidation: The Learner Data Capturer will be responsible for capturing data from health facilities and partners and consolidating it into structured databases.
  • Reporting: Ensuring timely submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports is crucial. The data capturer will format and structure the data according to specified requirements.
  • Collaboration: The role requires interacting with the Department of Health and THC staff to ensure the accuracy of captured data and to fulfil project objectives.
  • Administrative Tasks: General filing, record-keeping, and administrative duties will also be part of the role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 qualification (Level 4) with a background in HIV/AIDS and STI programmes.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 years.
  • The ability to use MS Office, with a clear criminal record.
  • Knowledge of or interest in HIV and public health is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in English and IsiXhosa.
