Gert Sibande TVET College, in partnership with the South African Public Colleges Organisation (SAPCO) and the Services Sector Education and Training Authority (SERVICES SETA), has opened In-Service Training Placements for qualifying TVET graduates.

These In-Service Training Placements aim to move students from theory into real workplaces by placing successful applicants in approved organisations where they complete required practical training linked to their qualifications.

For many TVET graduates, In-Service Training Placements remain a key step toward qualification completion and employment. This initiative delivers structured exposure, guided mentorship, and hands-on experience aligned with industry needs.

What Are In-Service Training Placements?

In-Service Training Placements, also referred to as Work Integrated Learning (WIL), allow students to apply knowledge gained during N4–N6 studies in a professional work environment.

Through this programme, participants gain:

• Practical workplace experience
• Exposure to professional standards and expectations
• Improved job readiness and confidence
• Stronger CVs when applying for permanent roles

SERVICES SETA funds the programme, while SAPCO supports coordination and quality assurance to meet SETA requirements.

Programme Details

The current intake provides 50 In-Service Training Placements under the R191 stream.

Fields of Study Covered

Applicants must have completed N4–N6 in one of the following:

• Marketing Management
• Management
• Management Assistant
• Financial Management
• Business Management
• Human Resource Management

Duration

• Programme length: 18 months
• Type: In-Service Training / Work Integrated Learning
• Placement: Approved organisations linked to the programme

Who Qualifies for These In-Service Training Placements?

Applicants must meet all requirements below:

• Age between 18 and 35 years
• Unemployed at the time of application
• Not studying or enrolled in any training or learnership
• No previous participation in a SETA-funded WIL programme
• Proficient in English
• No criminal record
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally
• Must be a Gert Sibande TVET College graduate

Applications from graduates of other TVET colleges will not be considered.

Priority Consideration

Preference will be given to applicants currently volunteering.

Applicants claiming priority must submit:

• A valid confirmation letter from the hosting organisation
• A recently dated and officially stamped letter

  • Matric or NCV certificates (NQF Level 2–4)
  • N4–N6 certificates

All certifications must be not older than six months.
