The Board is now inviting applications from qualified and passionate individuals to join their team in the following roles:

1. Training Officer

Position Details:

  • Location: Midrand, Gauteng
  • Duration: Permanent Position
  • Remuneration: R 526,384.87 per annum (Total Cost of Employment)

Role Overview:

The Training Officer is key to monitoring, facilitating, and reporting on training programmes aimed at developing the skills of sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, and support staff. This role reports to the Manager of Training & Development and Communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to identify training needs.
  • Monitor and support personal development planning (PDP) sessions.
  • Develop and design new training programmes and improve existing ones.
  • Facilitate and assess training interventions.
  • Plan and manage training projects aligned with SABFS objectives.
  • Maintain records and compile reports on training activities.
  • Conduct benchmarking research to stay updated with best practices.
  • Write business proposals for funding of training initiatives.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and write training materials.
  • Understanding of the sheriff’s profession and SABFS operations.
  • Budget management and proposal writing capabilities.
  • Experience working with training stakeholders like SASSETA and QCTO.
  • Registered assessor, moderator, and skills development facilitator.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a similar training role.
  • Knowledge of SAQA, QCTO, SETA, and the Skills Development Act.
  • Experience in e-learning and instructional design.
  • Valid driver’s license.

2. HR Officer

Position Details:

  • Location: Midrand, Gauteng
  • Duration: Permanent Position
  • Remuneration: R 482,648.79 per annum (Total Cost of Employment)

Role Overview:

The HR Officer ensures effective human resource services for the SABFS, managing the full employee life cycle. This role reports directly to the Manager: Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage talent acquisition and staff onboarding/offboarding.
  • Identify training needs and develop HR development plans.
  • Oversee employee wellness and performance appraisals.
  • Handle employee relations, grievance and disciplinary processes.
  • Manage payroll processes, benefits, and compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal HR policies.
  • Monitor HR budget and procurement related to HR functions.
  • Compile and maintain accurate HR reports and data.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of labor legislation and HR practices.
  • Experience with payroll software such as SAGE VIP.
  • Ability to manage employee relations and performance systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ HR administration experience.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Valid driver’s license.
