Purpose of the Role

The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Marketing Manager, providing full support across all aspects of the marketing function. This includes handling logistics for campaigns, working on community upliftment initiatives (CSI), liaising with tenants, supporting events, assisting with public relations, managing social media platforms, and ensuring the upkeep of digital content like websites and newsletters.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Marketing Support

• Assist with marketing campaigns, promotions, and seasonal events across the shopping centre.
• Help coordinate logistics and communication with tenants, suppliers, and sponsors.
• Support corporate social investment initiatives such as charity drives and school programmes.
• Provide support for loyalty campaigns and gift card promotions.
• Brief design and creative agencies on marketing material needs.

Administrative Duties

• Update the shopping centre website with new content and promotional material.
• Collect and compile marketing statistics and performance data.
• Assist with invoice preparation, supplier contracts, and quotes.
• Maintain internal and external communication databases such as tenant directories, media contacts, and customer feedback logs.
• Prepare and compile monthly and quarterly marketing reports for review by the management team.

Liaison and Communication

• Act as a liaison between the marketing department and tenants to coordinate events and campaigns.
• Work closely with creative and media agencies to implement approved strategies.
• Attend relevant marketing meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action points.
• Assist with internal communication across departments and with external vendors.

Minimum Requirements

• A National Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communication, or a similar field.
• At least two years of relevant work experience in a retail or shopping centre marketing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use Canva or similar basic design software.
• Experience or understanding of social media management and content creation.
• Strong writing skills for newsletters, media releases, and tenant communication.
