Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant, with proof of current year registration fee payment.
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in warehouse operations, including:
- Stock management
- Stock-taking
- Distribution
- General warehouse operations
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Effective decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Good time management and interactive abilities.
- Computer literacy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Pharmacy Act
- Medicines and Related Substances Act
- Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
- Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
- Good Warehousing Practice (GWP)
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Waste management principles
- Physically fit to lift heavy boxes repeatedly.
- Willingness to work in cold-room environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the warehouse supervisor and pharmacist in daily operations.
- Supervise and perform receiving, storage, issuing, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
- Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO stock management principles.
- Assist in staff supervision, including SOP training, disciplinary processes, and leave planning.
- Monitor staff attendance and performance.
- Participate in stock control processes, including cyclic counts and annual/bi-annual stock takes.
- Resolve complaints from health facilities in line with SOPs.
- Ensure adherence to legislation, SOPs, and quality standards (GPP, GDP, GWP, PFMA).
- Enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards, including protective clothing.
- Contribute to staff training, development, and performance management.
- Be willing to rotate within different warehouse sections when required.
