Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant, with proof of current year registration fee payment.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in warehouse operations, including:
    • Stock management
    • Stock-taking
    • Distribution
    • General warehouse operations
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Effective decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management and interactive abilities.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of:
    • Pharmacy Act
    • Medicines and Related Substances Act
    • Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
    • Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
    • Good Warehousing Practice (GWP)
    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Waste management principles
  • Physically fit to lift heavy boxes repeatedly.
  • Willingness to work in cold-room environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the warehouse supervisor and pharmacist in daily operations.
  • Supervise and perform receiving, storage, issuing, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO stock management principles.
  • Assist in staff supervision, including SOP training, disciplinary processes, and leave planning.
  • Monitor staff attendance and performance.
  • Participate in stock control processes, including cyclic counts and annual/bi-annual stock takes.
  • Resolve complaints from health facilities in line with SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, SOPs, and quality standards (GPP, GDP, GWP, PFMA).
  • Enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards, including protective clothing.
  • Contribute to staff training, development, and performance management.
  • Be willing to rotate within different warehouse sections when required.
