Requirements

To qualify for these messenger posts, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: A Grade 10 or ABET Level 4 certificate and above. An original school report or transcript with a school stamp must be provided.
  • Experience: Twelve (12) months’ proven experience as a Messenger is an added advantage.
  • Skills and Attributes: Ability to work well in a team, perform under pressure, and meet strict deadlines. Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles is essential.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and holidays when requested.
  • Driver’s Licence: Considered an advantage but not compulsory. People living with disabilities will be considered even without a driver’s licence.

Key Duties

Messengers at Kalafong Hospital play an important role in supporting administrative efficiency. Duties include:

  • Collecting and delivering patient files throughout the hospital.
  • Assisting with the issuing and drawing of files in Records.
  • Collecting and transferring files to archives.
  • Internal distribution of mail, circulars, memos, prescription charts, TTOs, and order books.
  • External collection and delivery of mail outside the hospital premises.
  • Supporting other tasks as instructed by the supervisor.

These responsibilities require a high level of organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to hospital needs.
