ERWAT has announced external vacancies for General Workers in both the Scientific Services Department and the Operations Department. These full-time positions offer a basic monthly salary of R12,257.60 and are open to individuals with a minimum of Grade 8 (NQF Level 2) or N1 (NQF Level 2) qualifications.

1. General Workers – Scientific Services Department

The General Worker roles within the Scientific Services Department focus on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around laboratory facilities. Successful candidates will support operational efficiency by ensuring laboratory areas, equipment, and meeting rooms are prepared and maintained to high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily cleaning of all designated laboratory areas, including offices and meeting spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory interiors such as floors, windows, benches, cupboards, and blinds.
- Replenish essential supplies like hand soap, toilet paper, and air fresheners.
- Adhere to ISO 17025-based Management System Procedures and internal Safety Policies.
- Support the company’s compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
- Participate in health and safety activities as directed by supervisors or management.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 8 (NQF Level 2) or N1 Qualification (NQF Level 2).
- Commitment to ERWAT’s Health and Safety and ISO compliance standards.
- Ability to follow structured cleaning protocols and safety procedures.
2. General Workers – Operations Department

The Operations Department vacancies require individuals to perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties at various Water Care Works (WCW) sites. The goal is to maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping across plant equipment, offices, kitchens, and control rooms.
- Remove debris and prevent clogging in treatment units.
- Apply and direct sludge in designated areas according to standard operating procedures.
- Clean pump stations, inlet screens, and process units regularly.
- Follow all Safety Rules and Procedures to prevent workplace incidents.
- Support the overall efficiency of treatment operations through consistent upkeep of facilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 8 (NQF Level 2) or N1 Qualification (NQF Level 2).
- Understanding of safety standards in an industrial or water treatment environment.
- Physical fitness to perform outdoor and labour-intensive tasks.
