The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZN DOE) is inviting applications from tertiary students for the Administrative Examination Assistants 2026 temporary positions.

Successful applicants will assist during the 2026 national examination marking sessions, helping manage and organise examination scripts at designated marking centres across KwaZulu-Natal.

Students who are currently studying at a recognised tertiary institution and live near a marking centre are encouraged to apply.

Marking Sessions for 2026

Administrative Examination Assistants will work during the following marking periods:

June 2026 Senior Certificate Examination (SCE)

26 June 2026 – 12 July 2026

This marking session focuses on the Senior Certificate Examination scripts.

October / November 2026 National Senior Certificate (NSC)

25 November 2026 – 15 December 2026

This is the main matric examination marking session across all districts in KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Duties

Inside a marking centre, hundreds of examination scripts move between rooms, markers, and storage areas every day.

Administrative Examination Assistants help keep that process organised by:

  • Sorting and organising exam scripts
  • Packing marked examination papers
  • Moving scripts between marking rooms
  • Assisting with general administrative duties
  • Supporting the Administrative Manager at the marking centre

Their work ensures that the exam marking process runs smoothly and efficiently.


Who Should Apply

This opportunity is designed for students currently studying at tertiary institutions who want work experience during the examination marking season.

  • Living in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Available during the marking session period
  • Able to travel to the marking centre

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently registered at a tertiary institution
  • Must live within the area of the marking centre
  • Must have own transport and accommodation
  • Must provide proof of student registration

Applicants currently employed as Educator Assistants or Teacher Assistants will not be considered.
