About the Preschool Teacher Position

The preschool follows a Play-to-Learn approach, recognising that young children learn through meaningful play, exploration, discovery, creativity and hands-on experiences.

The appointed teacher will lead the 2–3-year-old class and be responsible for providing purposeful learning experiences that support each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Preschool Teacher Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing the daily operation of the classroom.
• Planning and preparing age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities.
• Creating a warm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Providing stimulating, play-based learning experiences.
• Observing and monitoring each child’s development and learning progress.
• Assessing children’s development and maintaining appropriate records.
• Maintaining classroom records and children’s portfolios.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• NQF Level 5 qualification or higher specialising in Early Childhood Development or Education.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience.
• Experience working with 2–3-year-old children will be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Own laptop and willingness to use it for work.
• Fluent in English.
• Valid Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• First Aid Certificate.

• Previous experience working with toddlers.
