Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualification in Early Childhood Development: The applicant must hold a formal qualification in Early Childhood Development. This ensures the individual has the necessary foundation for supporting young learners.
- Relevant Experience: Experience in a similar role within an educational setting will be highly advantageous. Familiarity with teaching practices and classroom management will also be beneficial.
- CAPS Experience: Applicants should have experience working with the CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement), which is crucial for aligning with the South African curriculum.
- Clear Criminal Record: A clear criminal record is required as part of the recruitment process to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities of the Class Assistant
The Class Assistant will be an integral part of the teaching team at Curro Burgundy, working closely with teachers to ensure the effective running of the classroom and the school. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Managing Classroom Equipment and Supplies: The Class Assistant will take responsibility for the maintenance and organisation of classroom equipment and supplies, ensuring that the teacher has everything needed for smooth lessons.
- Collaborating with Teachers: The Class Assistant will work closely with phase teachers, helping them execute lesson plans, support students’ learning, and maintain a productive classroom environment.
- Creating an Educational Atmosphere: A key part of the role is helping to cultivate a dynamic, engaging, and educational atmosphere in the classroom that fosters student growth and learning.
- Supporting Teaching and Learning: The Class Assistant will assist with the planning, management, and promotion of teaching and learning activities in the classroom, ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
- Assisting with Extracurricular Activities: The role also includes assisting with sporting events, cultural activities, and other school events, contributing to the holistic development of students.
- Administrative Duties: The Class Assistant will provide support in administrative tasks related to sports and other school operations as needed.
