Driver/Messenger Vacancy at South African Tourism

South African Tourism is seeking a dedicated Driver / Messenger to join its Facilities and Fleet Unit at the Head Office in Sandton. The role reports to the Facilities and Fleet Manager and plays a vital part in ensuring safe and efficient logistics for people, documents, and goods.

Driver/Messenger Purpose

The Driver / Messenger will be responsible for managing secure and timely logistics for executives, staff, guests, and business documentation. The position also includes postal mail distribution, materials handling, and supporting internal operations across South African Tourism’s head office.

Key Responsibilities

Deliveries, Collections, and Staff Transport

  • Transport executives, staff, board members, and guests to meetings, events, and destinations such as Gautrain stations, airports, and hotels.
  • Collect work-related parcels and ensure they are delivered to the correct recipient.
  • Handle vending machine consumables, record purchases, and submit proof to Finance.

Messenger Duties

  • Collect, deliver, and transport documents, materials, and goods safely within the designated area.
  • Maintain accurate messenger records of daily visits in the logbook.
  • File signed-off delivery and collection forms, ensuring accountability.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with routine and ad-hoc administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems for request forms.
  • Support office duties such as copying, filing, and printing documents.
  • Record fuel card purchases, toll-gate receipts, and other vehicle-related documentation.

Handyman Functions

  • Perform minor building maintenance and wear-and-tear repairs.
  • Assist with moving furniture, marketing equipment, and assets when needed.
  • Contribute to workplace health and safety.
  • Support asset verification processes.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Code B Driver’s Licence (Advanced Driver skill certificate is advantageous).
  • At least 2 years’ driving experience.
  • Exposure to basic building maintenance or handyman duties.
  • Ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, sorting, and record keeping.
