Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to fire-related incidents and emergency situations, with the following key duties:
- Firefighting Operations: Respond to fire incidents and participate in firefighting activities, using specialized equipment to manage and extinguish fires.
- Rescue Operations: Extricate casualties and perform rescue operations in emergencies, including hazardous substance incidents.
- Emergency Medical Care: Provide first aid and basic medical care to injured individuals at emergency scenes.
- Fire Prevention & Training: Advise on preventative measures and train employees on firefighting techniques and fire safety procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform maintenance on firefighting equipment, ensuring readiness for emergency situations.
- Health & Safety: Conduct health and safety inspections to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain detailed records of daily occurrences, including firefighting and safety activities, and complete required pro forma documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Firefighter Certification: NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 Certification, IFSAC Accredited.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in firefighting and emergency rescue operations.
- Drivers License: Valid code C1 driver’s license with PrDP. Advanced driving experience is advantageous.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically and physically fit to perform firefighting duties.
- Additional Certifications: EMT certification, First Aid levels 1 to 3, and Hazmat experience are essential.
- Knowledge: Sound understanding of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.

- Hazmat Knowledge: Proficient understanding of hazardous materials (Hazmat) and related guidelines.
