This apprenticeship will allow individuals to gain hands-on experience working with various aircraft models and systems while being mentored by a seasoned Mechanical/Avionics Technician.

Job Title: Mechanical/Avionics Apprentice

Key Responsibilities:

As an apprentice at FlySafair, you will be continuously mentored by an experienced Mechanical/Avionics Technician. The role will expose you to a wide range of duties, including:

  • Diagnosing Malfunctions: You will be involved in identifying and troubleshooting faults on various aircraft models.
  • Aircraft Systems Adjustments: Assisting with the disassembly or adjustments of aircraft electrical and avionics systems to prepare them for flight.
  • Flight Line and Maintenance Services: Participate in Flight Line, Short Visit Maintenance, and Heavy Maintenance services activities, gaining practical experience.
  • Aircraft Operations: You will be introduced to the operation of ground power and other aircraft service units, such as fueling and de-fueling aircraft, as well as monitoring the condition of company vehicles.
  • Documentation: Training will include participation in the documentation process, ensuring all maintenance records are completed accurately and in line with safety standards.
  • Safety and PPE: You will be trained in safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, orderly work area.

Requirements:

To apply for this apprenticeship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications: A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is essential. A completed, recognised theoretical Aviation Training course/qualification (Mechanical/Avionics) is also required.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
  • Work Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on public holidays.
