FlySafair, a leading South African airline, has opened up a permanent position for Junior First Officers at their various bases. Job Overview
As a Junior First Officer, you will be responsible for navigating and operating the aircraft during flights, performing checks and procedures before, during, and after each flight, and maintaining compliance with aviation regulations and FlySafair’s operational standards. This role requires excellent situational awareness, teamwork, and a professional approach to all aspects of the flight process.
Key Responsibilities
- Flight Operations: Ensure that flights are conducted safely, efficiently, and on time, adhering to all operational procedures.
- Aircraft Monitoring: Perform regular checks and monitor systems and flight paths to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaboration with Captain: Assist the Captain in maintaining high levels of crew discipline and behavior while offering advice and information on flight operations.
- Safety Procedures: Uphold all safety procedures, including managing emergency situations, cross-checking flight instruments, and responding to any irregularities or hazards.
- Documentation: Complete all necessary administrative duties, including filling out required flight documents and post-flight reports.
- Compliance: Ensure that all actions comply with FlySafair’s Operations Manual, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), and international aviation laws.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential)
- SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential)
- Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential)
- SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
- Minimum 1000 total flying hours and 500 Twin Turbine hours (Essential)
- Type-rated on Boeing or Airbus (Advantageous)
- Willing to sign training bond/s
- No criminal record
- Own transport and RSA driver’s license
- Valid RSA Passport
- Language proficiency at Level 6
