Junior Finance Officer Vacancies at The Mvula Trust

The Mvula Trust, a prominent developmental NGO in South Africa, is excited to announce an opportunity for two Junior Finance Officers to join their team. These positions will be based at their Limpopo Regional Office in Polokwane, with a 12-month contract starting soon. Position Overview

The Junior Finance Officer will work closely with the Assistant Finance Manager to ensure smooth and efficient operations in the Finance Department. The role involves processing supplier invoices, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining up-to-date financial records. The Junior Finance Officer will also play a crucial role in internal and external reporting, asset management, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Finance Officer will:

  • Process Supplier Invoices: Ensure that supplier invoices are accurate, processed without duplication, and captured on SAP.
  • Payment Management: Ensure that all invoices are paid on time, without duplicate payments, including direct payments to suppliers.
  • Invoice Validation: Confirm that all invoices are valid, authorised, and attached to the payment requisition with the necessary supplier reconciliation.
  • Accounts Receivable: Assist with preparing and submitting accounts receivable for contractors, PSPs, and client disbursements.
  • Ensure VAT Compliance: Ensure that invoices are VAT compliant.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate historical and current information in OneDrive and assist with filing to keep records up to date.
  • Reporting: Support in the preparation of internal and external reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Asset Management: Update the Regional Assets Register to ensure that new assets are added and disposed of promptly.
  • Financial Information Compilation: Assist in compiling the necessary financial data for close-out reports and other required reports.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (NQF Level 7).
  • Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in a finance role, with a good understanding of South African tax legislation.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in working with financial software and computer packages.
