Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
    • Certificate in CCTV / Control room operations
  2. Experience
    • At least 3 years’ experience in security & safety in a Public Health environment.
  3. Skills & Knowledge
    • Computer literacy — you should know how to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email.
    • Knowledge of CCTV surveillance cameras, access control systems, and control room operations.
    • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
    • Report writing skills.
    • Familiarity with laws and regulations related to security, such as:
      • Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, No. 53 of 1985
      • Criminal Procedure Act, No. 51 of 1977
      • Firearm Control Act
      • Labour Relations processes, safety and fire prevention, PMDS (performance management) etc.
  4. Other Requirements
    • No criminal record.
    • Be able to undergo Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal checks, citizenship, qualifications verification, etc.) if shortlisted.

Duties and Responsibilities

If you get the job, some of your duties will be:

  • Supervise both internal security staff and those contracted from outside.
  • Monitor access control (make sure only authorised people enter buildings, premises).
  • Develop, implement and manage safety & security measures.
  • Check security registers, enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), monitor personnel at key posts.
  • Walk-around inspections of buildings and premises to look for risks.
  • Handle conflict when it arises: solve disputes, negotiate where needed.
  • Generate reports: monthly staff data, incident reports, non-compliance, faulty equipment.
  • Monitor & operate electronic security systems in the control room: CCTV, alarms, key control systems etc.
  • Carry out any other duties delegated by your supervisor.
