Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Booking Management
- Coordinate bookings and scheduling of all Makerspace facilities.
- Prepare spaces with functioning, charged equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness, security, and order in the Makerspace.
Equipment & Consumables
- Inspect, store, and secure multimedia equipment.
- Conduct stock inventories and manage consumable procurement and spend.
- Oversee maintenance and report damaged or missing gear.
Technical Support
- Assist students and staff with equipment for photography, video, sound, VR, and 3D printing.
- Troubleshoot technical issues; escalate when needed.
- Support setup during classes, workshops, or events.
Training & Development
- Collaborate with academic staff to design and deliver training workshops.
- Advocate for Makerspace use as a learning tool among academic teams and students.
3D Printing Oversight
- Handle the full 3D printing workflow, from setup to maintenance.
- Manage stock of materials like resin and toner.
Requirements
- Education: Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Multimedia, Photography, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or similar.
- Experience: At least 2 years in multimedia production (photography, videography) and equipment management.
- Must have a compelling portfolio showcasing photo and video skills.
- Proven experience in training users with creative tech is essential.
- Must be comfortable learning and working across evolving technologies like VR, sound production, and 3D printing.
Core Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with a diverse group, create training materials, and guide users.
- Strong technical acumen with multimedia gear and software such as Adobe Creative Suite and 3D tools.
- Effective problem-solving under time-sensitive conditions.
- Outstanding organisation and planning, juggling bookings, inventory, and schedules.
- Patient, approachable, and supportive—great at building strong user experiences for students and staff.
- Highly adaptable, with a rapid ability to learn new tools and workflows.
- A team player who collaborates well with academic and operational staff to deliver better learning environments.
