The successful candidate will assist with the overall management of the store, ensuring that all operational and administrative duties are carried out in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Retail Store Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Managing and reporting all customer compliments and complaints to store management
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships with customers
  • Handling customer stock queries and ensuring they are resolved efficiently
  • Communicating effectively with customers and providing feedback where required
  • Assisting customers with enquiries and referring them to relevant departments
  • Adhering to customer turnover per hour targets as per company benchmarks
  • Managing point-of-sale shorts and overs, including float control
  • Processing refunds and return transactions accurately
  • Ensuring returned goods and back shopping are handled correctly
  • Verifying deliveries and invoices for accuracy
  • Assisting the Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims
  • Managing and controlling high-risk stock
  • Preparing daily run reconciliations
  • Ordering, preparing, and receiving branch change requirements
  • Maintaining effective liaison between internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring accurate document control (floats, petty cash, cash on hand)

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • SAP experience
  • Previous retail experience
