Internship Overview
The Physical Science/Mathematics College Internship aims to nurture motivated, skilled educators through mentorship, training, and professional exposure. Successful candidates will receive funding for tuition at the University of South Africa (UNISA) or an equivalent institution, enabling them to balance academic studies with hands-on teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will be actively involved in the teaching and learning process, including:
- Supporting classroom activities in Physical Sciences and/or Mathematics.
- Assisting teachers with lesson planning, assessment, and supervised teaching.
- Engaging in the wider school community through sports, cultural, and service programmes.
- Participating in structured mentorship and professional development sessions.
- Upholding the school’s values through professionalism, commitment, and consistent academic progress.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programme.
- Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Strong motivation and commitment to a career in teaching.
- Basic proficiency in technology for educational and administrative purposes.
- Willingness to coach sports and participate in co-curricular activities.
- Alignment with Steyn City School’s ethos and community spirit.
