Requirements for Applicants

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Hold a basic pharmacy qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Be registered with SAPC as a pharmacist.
  • Have a valid driver’s licence.
  • Be computer literate.

Responsibilities of the Role

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Managing pharmacy facilities in line with legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Issuing and controlling medication, including rendering basic pharmaceutical services to offenders.
  • Maintaining medical protocols and adhering to medical standards.
  • Providing training where necessary and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing resources such as finances, staff, equipment, and medical stock.

  • Applications must be submitted using the Z83 form (Public Service Application Form), obtainable from any Public Service department. Each application must be completed in full and accompanied by a detailed CV.
  • Applicants should also attach certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months) and all other required documents, either at the interview stage or before.
