About the Astron Energy Bursary

Astron Energy is a South African fuel and energy company that supplies petrol, diesel and related products through a national network of service stations and depots. A business like that depends on engineers, finance professionals, data analysts and IT specialists.

The Astron Energy bursary is administered by Excel@Uni, which also provides psycho-social support, light-touch mentorship, academic support in the form of private tutoring, and access to a Work Readiness Programme. That support matters as much as the money, because many first-generation students struggle with more than fees.

The bursary is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students at registered South African institutions, including private colleges and TVETs, as long as the qualification is in a listed field.

  • Accommodation
  • Meals

  • Psycho-social support from Excel@Uni

Closing Date

The closing date for the Astron Energy Bursary 2027 is 26 October 2026 at 12:00 midday. No late applications will be accepted.

Why It Matters

Funding that covers accommodation, meals and tutoring is rare, and it goes to the students who need it most. For a young person from a household without a steady income, a full bursary removes the single biggest reason people leave university before graduating.

The listed fields also line up with where jobs exist: engineering, IT, data and finance. A degree in one of them, backed by a Work Readiness Programme, puts you in a far stronger position than a qualification alone. The portal asks for a long list of certified documents, so start collecting them this week.
