The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) is offering 24-month internships in Gauteng at R7,000 a month. Roles are open in Human Resources, Administration and ICT, and no prior work experience is required. Graduates with a 65% overall aggregate can apply by email. The ICT internship closes on 23 October 2026, while the HR and Administration posts close on 16 October 2026.
About the CHIETA Internship Programme
CHIETA is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that funds and coordinates skills development in South Africa’s chemical industries. SETAs channel levy money into learnerships, bursaries and internships, and they also run their own internship programmes.
This 24-month programme places unemployed graduates in real roles at CHIETA. A two-year placement is longer than most internships, which gives you time to learn the work properly rather than only shadow it.
Graduates with a diploma or degree but no experience are stuck in a loop where employers want experience first. A paid internship at a national skills authority breaks that loop.

Why It Matters
Graduate unemployment is a real problem in South Africa, and many diploma and degree holders wait years for a first job. A stipend of R7,000 for two years gives you income, structure and a work record while you keep looking for permanent roles.
The internship does not guarantee permanent employment, and successful applicants face background checks and assessments, so go in with realistic expectations. Even so, two years inside a SETA teaches you how the skills system works, which is useful in HR, administration and ICT roles across the public and private sectors. Check the official adverts directly, as the details on third-party sites may change.
