Job Purpose: Enforcing Legislation for Public Safety
The Law Enforcement Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Sea Shore Regulations, Bylaws, Criminal Procedure Act, and other relevant legislations are upheld and enforced effectively. Key Responsibilities: Active Enforcement and Support
- Patrolling and Facility Access Control:
The Law Enforcement Officer will be tasked with patrolling parks, leisure, and cemetery facilities regularly, ensuring that access is controlled and any unlawful activities are identified and dealt with immediately. Their presence will be essential in maintaining a visible law enforcement presence that deters crime and ensures the safety of visitors. - Arresting Suspects and Assisting SAPS:
One of the most important responsibilities of the Law Enforcement Officer is to assist with the apprehension of suspects. In collaboration with the Senior Law Enforcement Officer and the South African Police Service (SAPS), the officer will assist in arresting individuals who break the law, ensuring that all procedures are followed according to the Criminal Procedure Act. - Special Project Assistance:
From time to time, the Law Enforcement Officer will be expected to participate in special projects aimed at improving public safety or addressing specific concerns within the parks and recreation areas. This may involve additional law enforcement efforts or initiatives to reduce crime or improve community engagement. - Administrative Functions:
Performing administrative duties is a significant part of this role. The officer will be required to maintain detailed records, document incidents, and file reports in compliance with legal and departmental requirements. Essential Requirements
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent education level.
- A Law Enforcement Certificate or any other related qualification.
- A valid motor vehicle driving license and the ability to drive a motorcycle (Code A).
- South African Police Service clearance certificate to ensure a clean record for law enforcement duties.
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in law enforcement.
- Computer literacy is required to handle administrative tasks and record-keeping.
Preferred Requirements
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will be beneficial:
- A Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Law Enforcement or any related field.
- A Code C1 driving license.
- A Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- A Firearm Competency certificate.
- A First Aid Certificate.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
