- Minimum of two years of appropriate experience as an Occupational Medical Officer after registration

- Knowledge of Department of Labour and Compensation Fund procedures

Scope of Duties
The Occupational Medical Practitioner will develop and manage medical surveillance programmes in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The role includes overseeing biological monitoring, conducting initial, periodic and exit medical examinations, and managing occupational injuries and disease incidents. The successful candidate will develop incident management protocols and ensure reporting of injuries on duty and occupational emergencies.
The position requires certifying fitness for work and conducting return-to-work assessments. The practitioner will develop risk-based medical surveillance plans and ensure compliance with compensation processes and relevant legislation.
Additional responsibilities include managing primary health care services within the occupational health framework, participating in disaster management processes, and conducting health and safety inspections.
The role also involves developing and reviewing occupational health policies, promoting health education initiatives such as HIV and TB awareness, monitoring absenteeism, maintaining legal compliance registers, and leading occupational health and wellness initiatives within the department.
