Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH) has opened its Chartered Accountancy (CA) Bursary Programme for 2027, a focused opportunity for young people from the Royal Bafokeng Nation who want to become chartered accountants. The bursary funds first-year accounting students at SAICA-recognised universities and feeds directly into RBH’s own CA training programme. Applicants must be under 35, unemployed and have strong marks in Mathematics, English and Accounting. Applications close on 31 July 2026.

About the Programme

Royal Bafokeng Holdings is the investment company that manages the assets of the Royal Bafokeng Nation, a community based in the North West province. RBH invests in the sustainable transformation of its community and runs a range of skills development programmes for the youth of the Royal Bafokeng Nation and the broader country.

The RBH CA Bursary Programme was first launched in 2020 to help young people from the Royal Bafokeng Nation develop scarce, high-value skills that strengthen the economy. RBH has been an accredited South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) training institution since 2017, which means it can train chartered accountants in-house. The bursary is built as a deliberate skills pipeline: it funds promising students through their accounting degrees, and the strongest candidates can later feed into the RBH Chartered Accountancy trainee programme. For an ambitious young person from the Bafokeng community, it is a clear route from matric to a respected professional qualification.

What Is Covered

  • Funding to study toward a Chartered Accountancy qualification at a SAICA-recognised public university
  • A pathway into the RBH Chartered Accountancy trainee programme for strong candidates over time
  • Investment in skills that are scarce and in high demand across the South African economy
  • The specific cost components covered, such as tuition, accommodation, books and allowances, are confirmed during the application process

Closing Date

The closing date for the Royal Bafokeng Holdings CA Bursary Programme 2027 is 31 July 2026 at 23:59. No late applications will be accepted.

Why It Matters

Chartered accountancy is one of the most respected and well-paid professions in South Africa, but the path to qualifying is long and expensive, and very few young people from rural communities ever get the chance to start. The RBH CA Bursary removes the cost barrier and, just as importantly, builds a clear bridge from study into actual training and employment within the Royal Bafokeng Group.

For a young person from the Bafokeng community with strong marks but no funding, this is a direct line into a profession that can transform their future and uplift their family. It is also a powerful example of a community investing its own resources in growing its own professionals.
