Key Requirements
- Education: General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7).
- Professional Registration: Security Board of South Africa, PSIRA Grade ‘C’ (Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001).
- Experience: Proven work as a Security Officer, preferably within a hospital environment.
- Languages: Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
- Skills:
- Conflict management and group handling.
- Good listening and report writing skills.
- Knowledge of managing aggression and violence.
- Strong sense of responsibility, independence, and ability to work under pressure.
- Personal Attributes: Self-discipline, motivation, and willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and rotate between units.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed Security Officer will:
- Manage access and egress control, preventing unlawful entry, removal of persons, vehicles, dangerous objects, and illegal substances.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and fire alarm systems to detect and prevent security risks.
- Protect buildings, patients, staff, and visitors while patrolling restricted areas.
- Assist healthcare personnel in handling aggressive or uncontrolled patients.
- Deliver a supportive security service to prevent injuries, abscondment, litigation, and adverse incidents.
- Ensure incident reporting and documentation of patient movements and related activities.
- Provide effective support to supervisors and perform delegated duties across units.
Salary and Benefits
- Annual Salary: R163,680 per annum.
- Additional Benefits: 13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing allowance, and medical aid allowance.
