Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse (Enrolled Nurse)
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures
  • Understanding of nursing statutes and relevant legal principles
  • Basic communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, Patients’ Rights, and the Six Ministerial Priorities
  • Ability to interpret and implement healthcare policies
  • Must be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for providing basic nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse. Duties include:

  • Measuring, interpreting, and recording vital signs
  • Providing health education to patients and community members
  • Assisting professional nurses with clinical procedures
  • Preparing patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures
  • Monitoring and supporting the nutritional status of patients
  • Engaging with the community and relevant stakeholders
  • Delivering elementary nursing services within the scope of practice defined by SANC
  • Maintaining the Public Service Code of Conduct
  • Performing other duties delegated by supervisors or managers
