Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse (Enrolled Nurse)
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures
- Understanding of nursing statutes and relevant legal principles
- Basic communication and writing skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, Patients’ Rights, and the Six Ministerial Priorities
- Ability to interpret and implement healthcare policies
- Must be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing basic nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse. Duties include:
- Measuring, interpreting, and recording vital signs
- Providing health education to patients and community members
- Assisting professional nurses with clinical procedures
- Preparing patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures
- Monitoring and supporting the nutritional status of patients
- Engaging with the community and relevant stakeholders
- Delivering elementary nursing services within the scope of practice defined by SANC
- Maintaining the Public Service Code of Conduct
- Performing other duties delegated by supervisors or managers
