Scope of Duties

  • Provide technical services and support related to civil engineering design, research, and infrastructure maintenance projects.
  • Assist with the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of engineering systems that support the provincial road network.
  • Develop cost-effective engineering solutions in line with approved standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Evaluate and review existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures.
  • Support the integration of updated engineering practices and emerging technologies.
  • Provide training and development support to technicians and technologists.

Office-Based Responsibilities

  • Prepare inputs to support effective resource planning and utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with supply chain management procedures.
  • Adhere to human resource administration processes.
  • Compile and submit reports on service delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements, including occupational health and safety standards.

Research and Development Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with new engineering technologies, methods, and procedures.
  • Conduct research and literature studies relevant to civil engineering practices.
  • Liaise with professional bodies and engineering councils on technical matters.
  • Participate in an approved professional development programme for ECSA registration.
