Job Description

Steinmuller Africa is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to support and enhance the company’s IT infrastructure. The role will primarily involve managing servers, LAN, and WAN infrastructure while maintaining high levels of IT service availability, optimising system performance, and ensuring security across the network. Key Responsibilities

As an IT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

1. System Availability:
   • Ensure high availability of IT services across the organization.
   • Regularly analyse and monitor system performance, including servers and network infrastructure, ensuring the systems remain optimal.
2. Troubleshooting and Optimization:
   • Perform in-depth troubleshooting of IT systems and networks.
   • Provide solutions that enhance system efficiency and performance.
   • Implement system solutions to meet evolving organizational needs.
3. IT Infrastructure Security:
   • Maintain and enhance the security of IT infrastructure by actively identifying vulnerabilities and addressing potential risks.

4. Third-Line Support:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements:
  • Grade 12 certificate.
• Professional Experience:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant working experience in IT systems engineering.
  • At least 3 years of exposure to IT systems and multi-site networks in the capacity of a Systems Engineer.
  • A further 5 years of experience as an IT Support Technician with a focus on IT systems and multi-site networks.
• Certifications:
  • MCITP and MCSE qualifications are highly preferred.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022) active directory, group policies, and various other server roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and SQL (2012, 2016, 2019).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft System Centre, including Data Protection Manager.
  • Deep understanding of server virtualization, active directory, email systems, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, WSUS, IIS, DNS, DHCP, and file-sharing protocols.
  • Familiarity with server and PC hardware maintenance, including cluster servers, networking, and storage for Hyper-V environments.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, FTP, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, routing).
  • Experience with business continuity/disaster recovery, backup systems, and recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
