Entry-Level (0–1 Year)

R4,500–R7,500 per month. Learner sales assistants at major chains start between R4,500 and R6,500/month. The national minimum wage (R28.79/hour as of 2025) equates to roughly R4,990/month for a 40-hour week.

Mid-Level (1–3 Years)

R7,500–R12,000 per month. Experienced retail assistants with specialised departments (pharmacy, cosmetics) earn R7,500–R10,000/month. Commission-based roles can push earnings to R12,000+.

Senior Sales / Team Leader
