Seven key combinations cover most of what people do at a computer all day. Learning them takes ten minutes and is one of the fastest ways to look like you have done this before.
Hold Ctrl and tap the letter. Ctrl and C copies, Ctrl and V pastes, Ctrl and X cuts, Ctrl and S saves, Ctrl and F finds a word on the page, Ctrl and P prints.
Ctrl and Z undoes your last action. It works in almost every program, several times over, and it is the reason you should never panic about deleting something by accident.
How does Ctrl and F actually help?
It searches the page you are looking at. On a long job advert, press Ctrl and F and type "closing" to jump straight to the closing date. It turns a five minute read into five seconds.
What is Alt and Tab?
It switches between the programs you have open, without using the mouse. Hold Alt and tap Tab to move between your CV and the job advert. It is the shortcut that most makes people assume you have used computers for years.
