A learner licence is the first door into delivery work, driving work and plenty of jobs that never advertise the requirement until the interview. The process is short. What catches people is not knowing the order of it, so they lose a day off work to a trip that was never going to succeed.
Check you qualify, gather your documents, book and pay, study, write the test, collect the licence. That is the whole process.
Step two is where most people are turned away, which is why the next lesson is only about your documents.
How long does a learner licence last?
24 months, and it cannot be renewed. If it runs out before you pass your driver's licence you write the learner test again from the beginning. So do not book it long before you can realistically get behind a wheel.
Before you move on
- Find out where your nearest testing centre is
- Phone ahead and ask what they require, because centres differ
- Decide roughly when you will be able to learn to drive, so the 24 months are not wasted
