Investec High School Bursary 2026

If you are a learner in Grades 10-12, with a passion for Mathematics and Physical Science, the Investec High School Bursary offers a fantastic opportunity to further your academic journey. With a strong focus on learners from township and rural schools, this bursary programme is designed to support young scholars who demonstrate exceptional academic potential. Through this initiative, Investec aims to uplift the future of South Africa by providing financial support and educational resources to students who would otherwise struggle to afford the costs of their high school education.

Key Eligibility Criteria for the Investec High School Bursary

The Investec High School Bursary is a competitive programme, and applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered for the award. The following are the primary requirements for students wishing to apply:

1. Grade Eligibility

  • Applicants must be in Grades 10, 11, or 12 during the 2026 academic year. This means that learners currently in Grade 9, 10, or 11 are eligible to apply.

2. South African Citizenship

  • Applicants must be South African citizens.

3. Academic Requirements

  • Applicants are expected to demonstrate outstanding academic performance, particularly in Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, and English.
  • Applicants must have achieved at least 70% in all subjects, with a minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English.

4. Financial Need

  • The bursary is designed for learners who are in financial need. Selections will be made based on both financial need and academic potential.

5. School Enrollment

  • Applicants must have been enrolled in their current school for at least 1 year by the end of the 2025 academic year. The bursary does not transfer students to new schools but supports learners at their current school.

6. School Performance

  • The school where the learner is enrolled must meet certain performance criteria, including:
    • 75% of learners must be taking Pure Mathematics.
    • The school should have a 90% matric pass rate, with at least 80% of matriculants achieving university entrance qualifications.
    • 75% of learners should achieve a 50% pass or higher in Pure Mathematics.
    • The school should maintain a good English pass rate, with at least 80% of learners obtaining above 50% in English.

7. Supportive School Environment

  • The school must foster a holistic, supportive environment for learners, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

How to Submit the Application

  • Applications must be submitted through the StudyTrust online application platform. This platform will guide you through the process of completing the application form and uploading your supporting documents.

Communication and Selection Process

  • Once your application is submitted, StudyTrust (on behalf of Investec) will communicate with your partner organization or directly with you via email. The selection process will begin in December 2025 and continue through to March 2026.
  • Please note that meeting the minimum selection criteria does not guarantee that you will be selected. The final decision rests with Investec, and only a limited number of candidates will be shortlisted.

Important Considerations

  • If you plan to change schools during the course of the bursary, you must ensure that the new school meets the required performance criteria. Moving to a school that does not meet the bursary’s requirements may lead to the cancellation of the bursary.
  • Ensure that your application is complete and includes all the necessary documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • The bursary will not pay for school fees at a new school; it only supports learners in their current school. Therefore, it is crucial that you apply for the bursary while still enrolled in your current school.
