What the Learnership Programme Offers

Successful candidates will receive:

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Educational Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) with a minimum pass mark of 40%
  • Physical Science with a minimum pass mark of 40%
  • English with a minimum pass mark of 40%

In addition, applicants must have:

  • N2 qualification or higher with all four subjects passed, including Mathematics and Engineering Science relevant to the chosen trade, OR
  • NCV Level 4 in the appropriate trade with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%.

Boilermaker

  • Plating/Welders Theory
  • Plating Structural & Steelwork Drawings

Electrician

  • Electrical Trade Theory
  • Industrial Electronics or Engineering Drawings

Diesel Mechanic

  • Diesel or Motor Trade Theory
  • Engineering Drawings

Mechanical Fitter

  • Fitting Trade Theory
  • Engineering Drawings

Instrument Mechanician

  • Instrument Trade Theory
  • Industrial Electronics

Auto Electrician

  • Motor Electrical Trade Theory
  • Industrial Electronics

Millwright

  • Electrical and Fitting Trade Theories
  • Engineering Drawings or Industrial Electronics

Rigger

  • Rigger Trade Theory

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following:

  • Updated CV
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copies of all relevant qualifications
  • Proof of residence (for applicants from host communities)

Applicants from host communities must ensure that their proof of residence is stamped by the relevant tribal authority or municipality.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Preference for Host Communities

Valterra Platinum has indicated that first preference will be given to qualifying applicants from host communities surrounding its operations. Candidates from these communities are encouraged to apply and ensure all supporting documents are included.
