Key Responsibilities of a Warehouse Assistant
As a Warehouse Assistant, your duties will include:
Stock Transfers and Issuances
- Stock Picking and Issuing: You will work with the stock controller to get the picking list and ensure goods are issued according to the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Stock Rotation: A key responsibility is to assist in stock rotation, ensuring that older goods are moved to the front to be picked first. This helps maintain the freshness and quality of goods.
- Movement of Stock: You will transfer stock within and between the warehouse and different outlets on the business complex, ensuring that sufficient stock is available in all required areas.
- Safety Compliance: It’s essential that stock is stored in compliance with safety standards to reduce risk and maintain a safe working environment.
Warehouse Maintenance and Stock Checks
- Cleaning and Organising: The warehouse environment must remain clean and well-organised. Regular cleaning of storage areas and equipment will be part of your routine.
- Stock Takes and Recounts: You will assist with monthly stock takes and recounts to ensure stock accuracy. When required, you may also report on obsolete or expired stock.
Reporting and Compliance
- You will report on stock discrepancies, and help in identifying obsolete stock that may need to be disposed of or returned.

Educational Requirements
- A minimum of Grade 10 education is required for this role.
Physical Requirements

- Technical Competencies: Understanding stock control procedures, product knowledge, and adherence to SHE legislative requirements are essential. Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite is also required.
- Behavioural Competencies: Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions are core to this role. The ability to work independently and in a team is also important.
