Novus Print Apprenticeship Programme

Novus Print in Montague Gardens is inviting applications for its 2025 apprenticeship programme. Set to begin in January 2026, this structured three-year initiative combines classroom-based theory with hands-on experiential training, preparing candidates for trade tests in key printing disciplines.

About Novus Print’s Apprenticeship Programme

Novus Print offers apprenticeships in several specialised trades:

  • Lithography Press
  • Electronic Pre‑Press
  • Mechanised Bookbinding
  • Gravure Press
  • Sheet‑fed Press

The training spans approximately 36 months and divides into two phases:

  • Phase 1: 3–4 months of theoretical training at a partner academy.
  • Phases 2–4: Approximately 26–30 months based onsite at Novus Print for practical experiential learning.

This apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with FP&M SETA and Printing SA. While successful completion does not guarantee permanent employment, apprentices gain invaluable experience and trade certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage fully with both theoretical and practical aspects of the programme
  • Work shifts as required, demonstrating flexibility and reliability
  • Exhibit strong colour perception skills essential for print quality control
  • Read and comprehend technical English course material

Educational & Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy with a pass of at least 50% (attach matric certificate or latest results)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Technical foundation or prior technical experience in printing-related fields

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English
  • Willingness to work shifts
  • Excellent colour perception
  • Technical interest or aptitude is advantageous
