1. Parliamentary and Cabinet Support Officer: Office of the Minister

  • Reference Number: DOT/HRM/2025/16
  • Location: Pretoria
  • Salary: R896,436 per annum (All-inclusive salary package)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and Liaison: The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring events in Parliament and Cabinet to identify issues relevant to the Minister’s portfolio. This includes perusing speeches, minutes, and attending meetings to ensure the Minister’s involvement in legislative matters.
  • Parliamentary Support: They will manage parliamentary questions, ensure the Department’s representation at parliamentary events, and assist with the preparation of speeches, submissions, and Cabinet memoranda.
  • Administrative Coordination: The role includes managing logistics related to the Minister’s office, such as coordinating the movement between Pretoria and Cape Town offices during parliamentary sessions, and overseeing the packing and dispatch of official documents.

Requirements

  • An appropriate degree (NQF Level 6).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of parliamentary and political processes in South Africa.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to analyse and synthesise information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Management: This role focuses on managing the daily administrative tasks of the executive authority’s office. This includes developing systems and databases to track document flow, managing the office budget, and overseeing procurement and logistical support.
  • Coordination of Cabinet Services: The successful candidate will ensure the efficient distribution of documents and submissions to Cabinet and standing committees. They will also manage the recording of decisions and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Supervision: The position includes supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the work of employees in the executive authority’s office meets the required standards.

Requirements

  • An appropriate degree (NQF Level 6).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a middle management role.
  • Knowledge of internal audit management and risk management principles.
  • Strong communication skills and a good understanding of government financial regulations.
