The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced exciting opportunities for young South Africans in the Eastern Cape. The agency is offering Internships and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) positions for people who want to gain work experience and grow their careers.

These programmes are designed to help graduates and students gain real work experience in government services while earning a monthly stipend.

SASSA Internship Programme 2026 (4 Posts)

The SASSA Internship Programme is designed for graduates who already have a Degree, B-Tech or National Diploma.

Successful candidates will be appointed on a 24-month internship contract.

Monthly Stipend

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of R7 860.50.

Internship Positions Available


1. Grant Administration (1 Post)

Required Qualification

Degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in:

  • Public Management
  • Public Administration
  • Social Sciences

Duties may include

  • Assisting with grant administration processes
  • Supporting social grant services
  • Helping with office administration
  • Working with beneficiaries and records

2. Information and Communication Technology – ICT (1 Post)

Required Qualification

Degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in:

  • Information Technology

Duties may include

  • Supporting IT systems
  • Assisting with technical support
  • Helping maintain computer systems
  • Supporting ICT projects within SASSA

3. Finance (1 Post)

Required Qualification

Degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in:

  • Financial Accounting

  • Assisting with financial administration

  • Supporting budgeting and reporting
  • Helping with finance systems

4. Communications and Marketing (1 Post)

Required Qualification

Degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in:

  • Communication
  • Media Studies
  • Multimedia Journalism

  • Assisting with communication campaigns
  • Supporting media and social media activities
  • Writing internal communication materials
  • Helping with marketing initiatives

SASSA Work Integrated Learning Programme 2026 (10 Posts)

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme is for students who have completed their N6 National Certificate and require practical workplace experience.

Successful candidates will be appointed on an 18-month Work Integrated Learning contract.

Monthly Stipend

Participants will receive a monthly stipend of R5 639.75.

  • Management Services
  • Operations Management

Who Can Apply

To qualify for these opportunities, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years
  • Meet the required qualifications
  • Be willing to work in East London, Eastern Cape
