About the Sasol Inspector in Training Learnership
The Inspector in Training Learnership is a non-permanent employee contract designed for individuals with excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to learning, and a passion for technical excellence.
The comprehensive 3-year training programme is accredited by the Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW) and aims to develop future inspection specialists who can contribute to maintaining safety and quality standards within Sasol operations.
Successful candidates will receive structured workplace training and exposure to various inspection disciplines, preparing them for careers in pressure equipment inspection, welding inspection, and manufacturing certification.
Areas of Specialization
During the programme, learners may gain experience in the following inspection fields:
Inspector of Pressurized Equipment (IPE)
The IPE is responsible for overseeing and certifying repairs and the manufacturing of new equipment at Sasol Secunda operations.
Competent Person Inspector (CP)
The CP performs physical inspections and certification of in-service equipment to ensure safe operation until the next inspection cycle.
Authorized Inspection Authority (AIA)
AIA inspectors certify manufactured products according to governing codes and standards. They also conduct inspections on pressure vessels and steam generators to ensure continued safe operation.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Option 1: Grade 12 Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Minimum 50% pass in:
- Pure Mathematics
- Physical Science
- English
Option 2: Engineering Qualification
- Completed S4 qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy
- Welding Engineering
