About the Online English Teacher Position

The Really Great Teacher Company is looking for passionate English teachers who enjoy working with children and helping them develop their language skills.

Teachers will conduct live online lessons using the ClassIn teaching platform. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and delivered entirely in English.

One of the advantages of this role is that students often stay with the same teacher over time, allowing you to build relationships and monitor each learner’s progress.

Salary

  • Approximately R107 per hour
  • Equivalent to US$6.50 per teaching hour
  • Paid based on completed classes

Please Note: This is an independent contractor role. Your earnings depend on the number of student bookings you receive, meaning hours are not guaranteed.


What You’ll Be Teaching

As an Online English Teacher, you’ll teach:

  • Young learners aged 4–16 years
  • English proficiency levels from A1 to C1
  • One-on-one lessons
  • One-on-two lessons (maximum two learners)

Each regular lesson lasts 25 minutes, while demo lessons range between 21 and 25 minutes.

Working Hours

Teachers are required to provide at least:

  • 14 hours of weekly availability
  • Teaching window:
    • 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM South African Time (SAST)
    • Monday to Sunday
  • Maximum teaching schedule:
    • Up to 6 days per week

You can decide how to spread your available hours throughout the week.


Online English Teacher Duties

Successful candidates will:
