If you’re a university or TVET college student looking to complete your practical training, the City of Tshwane Work-Integrated Learning Programme 2026 offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while completing your qualification.

The City of Tshwane is inviting eligible students to submit an Expression of Interest for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), Experiential Training, or Internship placements. Successful applicants will be placed on fixed-term contracts ranging from 12 to 24 months, depending on their qualification requirements.

About the City of Tshwane Work-Integrated Learning Programme

The programme is managed by the Group Human Capital Management – Learning and Development Division.

Its purpose is to create a database of qualified students who require practical workplace experience to complete their studies. Students selected from the database will be appointed to fixed-term training contracts in various departments across the City of Tshwane.

The municipality also encourages qualified students with disabilities to apply and will provide reasonable accommodation where required.


Who Can Apply?

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Have completed or be completing a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Require 12, 18 or 24 months of practical workplace experience to graduate.
  • Have no previous work experience.
  • Be a permanent resident within the City of Tshwane municipal area.

Eligible Qualifications

The programme is open to students in the following categories:

  • Final-year university students who have completed all academic modules except the work-integrated learning component.
  • N6 Certificate holders.
  • Three-year Diploma graduates.
  • National Diploma graduates.
  • Bachelor’s Degree graduates.

Contract Duration

The contract period depends on your institution and qualification requirements.
