About the Programme
The Free State Provincial Treasury manages the provincial budget, oversees spending across all Free State departments and municipalities, and enforces the Public Finance Management Act in the province. It is the financial engine room of provincial government, and the department where young accountants, auditors and analysts learn how billions of rand in public money is planned, allocated and monitored.
This internship is funded in collaboration with FASSET, the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority. FASSET-backed internships are known for structured workplace learning rather than admin filler: interns are placed in the unit that matches their qualification, assigned a supervisor and given real responsibilities in areas such as financial reporting, audit, IT support and economic analysis. The 24-month duration is double the typical government internship, which means more depth, a longer income stream and a stronger case for permanent appointment or a move into the private sector afterwards. Preference goes to youth living in the Free State.

- Non-disclosure of a previous internship can lead to immediate termination of the contract
