Job Description

The primary purpose of the Ward Clerk role is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Unit Manager and the nursing team within the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department.   • Stationery Management: The Ward Clerk will be tasked with ordering bulk stationery supplies and ensuring that any issues with availability are promptly reported to the Unit Manager.
  • Inventory and Stock Control: The role requires the Ward Clerk to assist in managing stock levels within the unit, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring that consumables (such as surgical items and medications) are available. The clerk will also manage stock credits to the pharmacy and update records of stock movement.
  • Patient Transfers and Discharges: Ensuring that all patient transfers, discharges, and bed movements are accurately captured within the hospital’s systems. This includes working closely with the nursing and medical teams to ensure smooth transitions.
