The Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust (MRTT) is inviting eligible young South Africans to apply for its exciting 3-Year Chef Apprenticeship Programme.
The programme is offered through the MRTT Hospitality & Tourism Academy and is designed to equip unemployed youth with valuable skills, practical experience and training for a career in Professional Cookery and Culinary Arts.

MRTT Chef Apprenticeship Programme 2026
The MRTT Hospitality & Tourism Academy is looking for eligible candidates to join its 3-year Chef Apprenticeship Programme.
Successful applicants will receive training in professional cookery and develop the practical skills needed to pursue opportunities in the culinary and hospitality industry.
Training will take place at the MRTT Hospitality & Tourism Academy – Kanyamazane Training Centre in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
Applicants must be willing to relocate to Nelspruit (Kanyamazane) for the duration of the training.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the MRTT Chef Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be unemployed
- Be between 18 and 32 years old
- Have successfully completed Grade 12 / Matric
- Have Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Level 2 or higher
- Have English at Level 3 or higher
- Come from a household with a total annual household income of less than R60,000 per annum
- Not be a participant in any SETA, NSFAS, Funza Lushaka or other government-funded programme
- Be willing to relocate to Nelspruit (Kanyamazane), where training will take place
- Be passionate about pursuing a career in Professional Cookery or Culinary Arts
Documents Required
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- A fully completed application form
- A recently certified copy of their ID – certification must not be older than three months
- A certified Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- A short CV
- Proof of household income
Important: Incomplete applications will not be considered.
